Our volunteers, our Heroes, are the beating heart of Falun 2027 and the most important people working behind the scenes. Applications are now open for those who want to volunteer during next winter’s major celebration of sport and community. Here you’ll find more information about how to become one of our Heroes.

How many volunteers will be working during Falun 2027?

“We expect around 2,000 people. It’s a large and amazing team that will create magic together, with every individual helping to create lifelong memories for themselves as well as for all our visitors and participants,” say Maria Hållmarker and Agnes Larsson Lyckholm, who work with volunteers at Falun 2027.

On which dates will the Championships take place?

“The Opening Ceremony will be held on 24 February, and the final competition day is 7 March. However, there will already be a significant need for volunteers in the days leading up to the start of the competitions.

We have divided the Championships into two seven-day periods. The first period runs from 22–28 February and the second from 1–7 March. Of course, you are welcome to volunteer during both periods.”

I volunteered during this winter’s World Cup events and am registered in the Heroes of Falun app. Am I automatically registered as a volunteer for the World Championships?

“No, you must submit an application specifically for the World Championships. You can do so HERE. There you can indicate which area you would like to work in and which days you are available.”

I was not a volunteer during the World Cup this winter. Can I still volunteer during the Championships?

“Absolutely. You are very welcome. Apply HERE, where you can indicate which area you would like to work in and which days you are available.”

When is the deadline to register as a volunteer?

“Our volunteer portal is open from now until October 31. It will then close and reopen in the autumn. However, we recommend that you register as soon as possible. This will increase your chances of

being assigned to the area you prefer and of working on the days that suit you best.”

Which volunteer areas are available?

“We have thirteen different sections. Each main section also includes several subcategories. You can read more about them here.”

What if I don’t mind which area I work in?

“Then simply select ‘Place Me Anywhere’.”

What do I receive as a volunteer?

“Above all, you will have the opportunity to be part of something unforgettable. Our volunteers, our Heroes, are the beating heart of the event and the most important people behind the scenes. Through commitment, teamwork and enthusiasm, these amazing heroes help create experiences and memories that last a lifetime.

To answer the question more specifically: if you volunteer for at least five days, you will be outfitted in high-quality clothing from Falun 2027’s national partner, adidas. Our adidas volunteer apparel will create a strong sense of community, a professional identity and a fantastic visual presence throughout the event.

In addition to the adidas clothing, you will also receive lunch on every day that you are scheduled to work. Lunch will be served in the Lugnet Sports Hall.”

I want to volunteer, but I don’t live nearby. How can I find accommodation?

“We offer volunteer accommodation at Lugnet Upper Secondary School. There are beds available for 100 people, as well as additional space for those who bring their own sleeping mat and sleeping bag.

If you know that you will need accommodation, we encourage you to register as early as possible. Breakfast is included for those staying in the volunteer accommodation and will be served at the same location as lunch.

There will also be a café at the volunteer accommodation where you can buy refreshments and meet and socialize with other volunteers before or after your shifts.”

When will I receive my schedule?

“That depends on when all volunteer registrations have been processed. Our ambition is for you to receive your work schedule well before Christmas. At that time, you will also receive all the information you need ahead of your volunteer assignment.”

Do you have additional questions?

“Then feel free to send an email to heroes@falun2027.com.”
