He was backed by hundreds of supporters dressed in yellow T-shirts at the World Cup in Falun last winter.
For the upcoming competitions at Lugnet in Falun, Edvin Anger’s fan club — “the Yellow Wall” — is expected to be even bigger.
– I hope they will help me win a World Championship gold in Falun, Anger says.

Edvin Anger’s fan club — the Yellow Wall — has become a familiar and much-appreciated feature at the World Cup events at Lugnet in recent seasons. During last winter’s Ski Games, around 230 supporters boarded fan buses in Hedemora to travel the roughly 50 kilometers to Lugnet and cheer on the local star during Saturday’s 10-kilometer classic race.
– That support means so much. It’s impossible to describe what it’s like to ski the Sprintbacken and Mördarbacken at Lugnet and feel more or less carried forward. I actually watch the videos we have from those days, and they give me huge joy and motivation. It really makes me excited to come back to Lugnet, says Edvin Anger.

Do they help you ski faster?
– I absolutely think I perform better. And even when we’re competing abroad, I can still feel their support — even though they’re back home in front of the TV, cheering and shouting. They help me push that extra bit, and I really hope they’ll help me win a World Championship gold in Falun, says Anger, who claimed his first World Cup victory in Falun.

That came at the 2023 World Cup finals, where he won the mixed relay together with Calle Halfvarsson, Moa Ilar and Jonna Sundling. Last winter, he also claimed his first individual World Cup victory by winning the sprint in Les Rousses.
Now he is looking ahead to the coming weeks of the Tour de Ski and, of course, the Olympic Games in Val di Fiemme.
After that, another meeting with the “Yellow Wall” awaits at Lugnet during the FIS Cross Country World Cup (February 28–March 1).
