The World Championships next winter will be something truly special.<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"228\" data-end=\"402\">That\u2019s according to Falun\u2013Borl\u00e4nge skier <strong data-start=\"269\" data-end=\"287\">Maja Dahlqvist<\/strong>, who impressed last weekend with one victory and two fourth-place finishes at the World Cup competitions in Davos.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"404\" data-end=\"728\">Maja Dahlqvist is one of Sweden\u2019s most accomplished cross-country skiers. Her World Championship record includes three gold medals and two bronze. At the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, she claimed two silver medals and one bronze in her three starts.<br data-start=\"651\" data-end=\"654\" \/>In fact, she has never left an international championship without a medal.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"730\" data-end=\"866\">Her World Championship debut came in Seefeld, Austria, in 2019. But she also had a role during the World Championships in Falun in 2015:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"868\" data-end=\"1262\">\u2014 <em data-start=\"870\" data-end=\"1191\">My dad ran the party tent downtown, so I had to step in a few evenings to make sure the floor didn\u2019t break, haha. The atmosphere was fantastic, both in the tent and up at Lugnet during the races. I was there and watched a few competitions, but then I headed off to compete in the Scandinavian Cup in Latvia and Estonia,<\/em> says Dahlqvist, who made her World Cup debut earlier that same winter.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1264\" data-end=\"1378\">She didn\u2019t race in Falun back then, but since then she has competed in no fewer than 18 World Cup races at Lugnet.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1380\" data-end=\"1631\">\u2014 <em data-start=\"1382\" data-end=\"1615\">It\u2019s the best venue and has the best atmosphere of the entire World Cup season. And of course, it\u2019s extra special because I have family and friends there cheering me on. Plus, it\u2019s a big advantage knowing the course inside and out,<\/em> says Dahlqvist.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1633\" data-end=\"1740\">A year ago, she and her partner Kevin Bolger moved to Trondheim to prepare for last winter\u2019s championships:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1742\" data-end=\"2050\">\u2014 <em data-start=\"1744\" data-end=\"2021\">It was a really great experience, and the whole year felt \u201cjust right.\u201d The atmosphere at the stadium there was also magical, and it felt like a lot of people were cheering for us. But I\u2019m convinced there will be even more when it\u2019s time for the World Championships in Falun,<\/em> Dahlqvist says with a smile.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2052\" data-end=\"2356\">And the 31-year-old has every reason to smile given her strong start to the World Cup season. Last weekend, she and Jonna Sundling won the team sprint in Davos. She has also finished third in the season-opening sprint in Ruka and placed fourth in both the individual sprint and the 10 km race in Davos.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2358\" data-end=\"2466\">These results mean that she has now secured her ticket to the upcoming Winter Olympics in <strong data-start=\"2448\" data-end=\"2465\">Val di Fiemme<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2358\" data-end=\"2466\"><a href=\"https:\/\/secure.tickster.com\/eavcvuj9czwupwc?c=672tv2k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tickets to FIS Nordic World Ski Championships<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2014 The atmosphere at Lugnet is always magical.
